Jersibine Steelman was a Methodist from Fayetteville although you would never knowit by talking to him.

The boys called him "Jerry" because Jersibine took too much work to say. He was one of the few men who had a family depending on him back home. When asked why he joined the army he replied he was just looking for something to do after he finished his chores and before it was supper time.
