Another roguish fellow who joined our company was a fellow the boys called, "Sock." His real name was  Joshua Blake and "Sock" was short for "Sock it to me!" which was one his favorite phrases he would repeat all day long. One night I got tired of hearing "Sock" saying "Sock it to me!"so I did. I had just popped the cork on a bottle of apple brandy and let my freind drink from it liberally. The next morning he disappeared only to be brought back later by the camp guards howling like a dog. He never said it "Sock it to me!" again.
